The Federation of Uganda Football Association, together with Guinness and Finance Trust Bank have launched the inaugural Women in Football Bonanza.
This was made in a glamorous event held at FUFA House in Mengo on Monday morning.
The event is slated to take place at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala on 29th November 2023.
This event is organized to celebrate the women and men that have developed women’s football in Uganda since its inception in the early 90s.
FUFA 3rd Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala, who was in attendance for the event on Monday stated that Women have to be celebrated for their contribution towards the male dominated sport.
“We want to bring together women that have served the game across different sectors such as players, referees, coaches, fans, media and administrators among others. We want to recollect and celebrate their achievements.” She said.
“It is not easy to break through in a male dominated industry and therefore, we want to appreciate and recognise women that have made a mark in the game.”
Finance Trust Bank through their Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Percy Lubega committed support to the Bonanza and promised much bigger support to women football in the next couple of years including injecting money into the FUFA Women Super League and FUFA Women Elite League.
“Finance Trust Bank highly values the role women play in shaping society. Being part of the Women in Football Bonanza is a testament of how we attach importance to women and through football, we are here to support them.”
“On Wednesday, we are going to announce our sponsorship package towards the FUFA Women Super League and FUFA Women Elite League which will be in hundreds of millions for the at least the next five years”
It should be noted that Guinness, a bra d under Uganda Breweries Limited last week unveiled UGX 110 Million towards the Bonanza
