On an afternoon with persistent rain drops, people flogged COBAP Boxing Club in Kasubi with an aim of having a glance on the International Boxing Association (IBA) Vice President, Volodymyr Prodyvus.
Volodymyr who arrived in the country on Sunday morning, was also glad to see the people of Uganda basing on the relationship built between Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) and International Boxing Association (IBA).
Accompanied by UBF President Moses Muhangi, a happy Volodymyr started off his visit with a journey to the Kasubi based Club.
At arrival, just like any other former boxer Volodymyr sparked off visit with a spiring session with young Academy talents before settling down to get to know the people.
With a few introductions and formalities, Club head coach famously known as Coach Lola introduced a lot of the members and among those was Club Patron, Gayita Fred who came out to express his gratitude for the and also Welcome the IBA Vice-président;
“We as COBAP welcome you Mr Vice President to our humble place where talents are made, and later on move to the National team”
Going on to thank the UBF President, Moses Muhangi adding that;
“Boxing has moved to some level, we very well know that in the societies we come from Boxing is known to be a men sport and not females”
Concluding that; “Under the President Moses Muhangi, this has changed and a lot of improvements in the different fields have taken place due to the routine checks he has carried out”
Following recent visits from the Association President Umar Kremlev, a lot has been achieved by the Boxing fraternity; including visiting different Boxing Clubs like Masaka BC, providing equipment this visit being no exception.
Since Volodymyr interacted with young boxers and donated various boxing equipment like Gloves to the boxing club with promise of constructing a great boxing ring for the talents at COBAP.
All this was done and said after an exhibition fight between Benon Balyejusa and Prince Kimera before a spiring session of the Vice President and exciting Female elite boxer Brenda Muduwa.
Towards the ceremony closure, UBF President, Moses Muhangi through the IBA Vice President was gifted by Ukrainian professional boxer Oleksandr Usyk and Vitaliy Klychko, a former Ukrainian professional boxer.
A happy Muhangi labeled this visit as one that strengthens their relationship with IBA and Ukraine;
“A month ago we just had Kremlev visit us and now we just had the Vice President come along an action that strengthens our relationship with IBA and Ukraine”
“It continues to show that we are moving together with an aim of building the sport”
On what brings them Muhangi added that;
“We have a great patnership and they appreciate our work with the help of the media”
