Ugandan side Vipers SC has been placed in pot four (4) ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group stages draw set for November 2022 at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ugandan representatives, debutants at the group stages of the competition will now avoid Al Merrikh, Cottonsport and either AS Vita or RC Kadiogo who have been placed in the same pot.
The Venoms reached this stage after eliminating Congolese heavyweights TP Mazembe in spotkicks 4-2 in Congo after a goalless stalemate after two legs.
Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, Esperance, Raja Casablanca are in pot 1 due to their performance in the last five editions of the CAF interclubs competitions (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022)
Mamelodi Sundowns, Zamalek, Horoya and Petro de Luanda are pitted in pot two while pot three has Simba, CR Belouizdad, JS Kabile and Al Hilal.
After the draw, each group will contain one team from each of Pot 1, Pot 2, Pot 3, and Pot 4, and each team will be allocated to the positions in their group according to their pot.
