Defending Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have completed the signing of Uganda Cranes midfielder Joel Sserunjogi from KCCA FC on a three-year contract.

Sserunjogi becomes one of the standout signings of the early 2026/27 transfer window as Vipers continue to strengthen their squad ahead of another campaign that will see them defend the Uganda Premier League title, compete for the Uganda Cup and return to the CAF Champions League.

Widely regarded as one of the league’s most accomplished midfielders, Sserunjogi has earned a reputation for his composure in possession, exceptional work rate and ability to dictate the tempo of matches.

He leaves KCCA after making more than 100 appearances for the Lugogo-based club, where he developed into one of the team’s most dependable performers. His tactical intelligence, accurate distribution and consistency made him a key figure in midfield throughout his stay.

Sserunjogi’s football journey began at Mulusa Academy before progressing through St. Julian High School and Kajjansi United.

His breakthrough came in the Buganda Masaza Cup, where he first featured for Buddu before helping Busiro win their maiden Masaza Cup title in 2022. Those performances earned him a move to KCCA in 2023.

His impressive club form also paved the way for international recognition. Since making his Uganda Cranes debut in 2024, the midfielder has earned nine senior caps and established himself as one of the country’s emerging midfield talents.

Sserunjogi now links up with new Vipers head coach Denis Lavagne, who continues to reshape the squad as the Kitende side targets domestic success and an improved showing on the continental stage.

The midfielder is expected to add quality, experience and balance to the heart of Vipers’ midfield as the club looks to build on last season’s success.
