Last season’s FUFA Women Super League runners up, Kampala Queens and Tanzania’s JKT Queens have been invited for the Vihiga Queens 10 Year Anniversary Celebrations at the Mumias Complex in Kenya.
With three games spread on three days in round robin method, the Queens’ friendly game against the 2023/24 FKF Women Premier League runners up will be played on the 5th September 2024 before they face JKT the following day.
For the Kenyan side (Vihiga Queens) after playing Kampala Queens, they will be back in action on 7th September against the 2023 Tanzania Women Premier League champions JKT Queens.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, the Club’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Senelwa Ogada confirmed that these friendlies will serve as part of their pre-season preparations:
“We will have a series of friendly matches between the three nations clubs whereby on Thursday Vihiga will play Kampala Queens at the Mumias Sports Complex from 1PM before facing JK Queens on Saturday at 1PM at the same Venue, followed by a gala.”
“But these games will be very crucial and memorable for the team as we will use them to gauge our players ahead of the new season”
“JKT are currently en route to Kenya via Namanga road and they are expected to arrive in Nairobi in the evening where they will spend the night and continue their journey to western Kenya tomorrow. Kampala, on the other hand, will travel tomorrow [Wednesday] and are expected to arrive in the evening’ Ogada concluded.
Vihiga were the first CECAFA team to represent the region in CAF Women’s Champions League Finals, when they participated in the 2021 edition in Cairo Egypt
