Cromwell Rwothomio’s only goal secured three points for NEC FC against Kitara at the MTN Omondi stadium Lugogo on Thursday evening.
Rwothomio headed the ball into the back of the net in the 65th minute from Joseph Dhata’s cross.
Into the game, the hosts started on a high note with every out field player pressing high whenever they lost the ball as wingers Joseph Dhata and Rashid Okocha made several crosses.
Kitara’s halftime had little iconic moments with some shots from Jude Ssemugabi towards NEC’s goal being saved as shot stopper Chris Kusiima was doing the same with Rwothomio’s shots.
NEC stayed dominant in the second half until Kitara introduced Frank Tumwesigye alias Zaga, Living Kabon and Paul Mucureezi who changed the game.
Few minutes into the final whistle, Kabon Living scored what would have become a consolation goal but denied for offside.
The win for the diehards has taken them to the fourth position with 40 points while the royals remain at the top with 44 points.
Hussein Mbalangu’s side will visit David Obua’s URA on 16th April.
