- KCCA 5-0 Bright stars
- Wakiso Giants 0-1 UPDF
- Lugazi 0-1 Maroons
Under the floodlights at the MTN Omondi Stadium, KCCA FC put on a masterclass, dismantling Bright Stars with a ruthless 5-0 display.
From the opening whistle, the hosts signaled their intent, overwhelming their struggling opponents with relentless attacking football.
The early warning signs were there when Arafat Usama found the back of the net within the first 10 minutes, only for his goal to be ruled out.
But KCCA FC remained undeterred. Seven minutes later, they got their breakthrough—Bright Anukani, fed beautifully by Saidi Shafik Nana, calmly slotted home to set the tone for the evening.
KCCA FC smelled blood and pressed forward with intent. Saidi Mayanja nearly doubled the lead but failed to convert into an empty net after rounding goalkeeper Simon Were.
However, it didn’t take long for the second goal to arrive. This time, Arafat Usama, determined to make his mark, rose highest to meet a pinpoint cross from Nana, heading in to extend KCCA’s lead.
The floodgates were now fully open. Usama turned provider for the third, setting up Saidi Mayanja, who combined brilliantly with youngster Yian Gatbel before finishing with composure.
Bright Anukani wasn’t done yet. Six minutes before the break, he stepped up to take a free kick, bending it perfectly past a helpless Were to secure his brace and make it 4-0 before halftime.
Bright Stars showed glimpses of fight in the second half, with Nelson Ssenkatuka coming close to pulling one back but Mugoloofa stood firm in KCCA’s goal. The visitors’ frustration deepened as the hosts refused to take their foot off the gas.
As the game approached its final moments, KCCA FC delivered the finishing blow. Brazilian forward João Gabriel tapped in from close range after an inviting cross from Etienne Katenga, capping off a resounding victory.
The win propels KCCA FC to fourth place with 34 points from 21 games, reigniting their push for a strong finish in the league. Meanwhile, Bright Stars, winless since December, remain in 15th place with 12 points from 21 matches, their survival hopes hanging by a thread.
KCCA FC will now set their sights on Kitara FC in their next encounter at Royals Park in Hoima, while Bright Stars must regroup quickly as they prepare to host Police FC in a desperate bid to turn their season around.
In Najjembe, visitors Maroons edged Lugazi 1-0 thanks to a goal from Abel Eterude while Semakatte netted UPDF’s goal to scrap win against Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu.
