Wakiso Giants confirm Ssebuufu’s transfer to USA

StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with United States of America side New York Red Bulls II for the transfer of Frank Ssebuufu.

The Purple Sharks confirmed this news on Monday morning on their official website wishing the player good luck in USA.

“Wakiso Giants and New York Red Bulls II have reached an agreement on the transfer of Frank Ssebuufu to the United States of America club.” read part of the statement published on the purple sharks website.

The young forward has been an integral member of the Wakiso Giants since he joined the club from Lungujja Galaxy in 2021.

He started off his journey with Kiboga Young FC in 2018 and had a brief stint at Masaka before he joined Galaxy.

This season at Wakiso Giants, he has featured in 16 games in all competitions, scoring thrice and setting up his teammates once.

Ssebuufu joins former Uganda Cranes captain Ibra Sekagya, who currently the Red Bulls II head coach.

New York Red Bulls II plays in the MLS Next Pro which is a league affiliated with Major League Soccer. The league comprises 27 reserve sides for MLS clubs and the independent Rochester New York FC.

Each team plays 24 regular-season games, which is followed by an eight-team playoff tournament. An MLS Next Pro clubs active roster contains up to 35 players, all of whom are eligible for selection to each official match during the MLS Next Pro season.
