Uganda edge Ethiopia in their CECAFA opener


It was Perfect start for the Uganda U-18 Women’s football National Team as they silenced Ethiopia in their CECAFA tournament opener on Tuesday evening.

Substitute and Kawempe forward Allen Nasaazi was the hero as she scored the all important goal for Uganda to edge Ethiopia 1-0 at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, Uganda.

In a game that was closely contested by both sides Uganda Martyrs goalkeeper Sharon Kaidu kicked the ball long to go past Ethiopian defenders only for Nassazi to make a perfect run to place the ball into the bottom right corner of the posts in the 68th minute.

The goal motivated Ethiopia more in order to push Uganda in the closing stages of the game only for Uganda to hold on to the win.

Therefore Uganda finish the day in second place behind the hosts Tanzania who beat selfless Burundi 3-0 in their opening game.

In the next game, Uganda will play against Zanzibar on Friday.
