Uganda Boxing Champions League: Isaac Zebra Jr dominates Kimbugwe

Isaac Zebra Ssenyange Jr dominanted the main fight of the Uganda Boxing Champions League week 13 from start to finish against Broline Kimbugwe at the NCS Lugogo Arena on Saturday evening.

The Zebra Boxing Club boxer claimed a 5-0 unanimous victory against COBAP’s Kimbugwe famously known as ‘Stylist’.

Ssenyange boxed Kimbugwe from the statement start in first round putting him on the ground for a count in just two minutes.

Kimbugwe who had come in with a couple of support continued to prove to be a no match for Bombers outfit as he fell to the ground more than twice in four rounds.

With respect to his opponent on the day, after the fight Zebra thanked his fans and said he won because he had a look back to his past experience with the Bombers squad.

“The fight was okay I was fighting Broline from COBAP, he a very good fighter, he has been winning in the novices and intermediate and open championships which I wasn’t able to go through since I was lucky enough to kick the door through the National team trials.” he said

“So, that shows how good he is but today I think what helped me was the exposure have with the National team having gone through different experiences with different coaches which I think he hasn’t.”

“I believe he’s a brave gentleman because when I boxed him to the ground in the first round I felt it was a bit damaging but him being able to come back and finish was huge.”

“I want to thank everyone; my fans, the media, coaches and family.”

On what next;

“I want to stay we were not able to get a ticket to the Olympics in Senegal, my journey ended at the Quaterfinal stage”

“So I am going back to train as I await for anything that may come my way to the Italy qualifiers, if am fortunate enough I will be able to represent Uganda.” He concluded 

Before the main fight, Tabule Emmanuel of Sparks Boxing Club comfortably humbled Kololo ‘s Mubazi Kenneth who was coached by Shadir Musa Bwogi in the Elite 92 Kgs.

Tabule who had his eyes on the knockout didn’t attain it but won the game on 5:0 unanimous by the judges.

Nayebare Sharon won 4:1 split against Nalule Leila in the Youth 54Kgs

Owori Derrick won 5:0 unanimous against Lubega Shamdin in the Youth 66Kgs

Sekito Arafat won by a Referee Stopped Contest in round 2 against Atwine Cyrus in the Junior 54Kgs

Ndagire Sharua won 5:0 Unanimous against Kugonza Joyce in the Elite 57Kgs

Kalema Joseph won 4:1 split against Mukisa Benjamin in the Elite 48Kgs

Week 13 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League was prepared for the different fight but with also an intention to support a fallen fighter Bala Geko.

Week 14 of the competition is set to return on Saturday 4th November 2023.
