Defending Champion, Uganda Martyrs University and Bugema University advance to the Quaterfinal stage of the Pepsi University Football league after their respective win on Thursday evening.
Usually to avoid match fixing, both the group’s two games were held at the same time in Kabale and Nkozi.
In Nkozi, Uganda Martyrs University destroyed University of Kisubi 5-0 to finish top of the with 14 points thanks to a Ssentongo Akbar brace and a goal from Joseph Kayondo, Richard Rwayanga and Peter Calvin Emayu.
In Kabale, Bugema University did a double against Kabale University following a 1-0 important win that helped them to move to Quarters.
Bugema’s only goal was netted by Sulaiman Ssentongo to move the side a point below UMU only to move onto the knockout stage in second.
With six groups this season, only three have been completed (Group F, Group C and Group A) and only six, Kampala University, Makerere University Business School, Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, Bugema University and Uganda Martyrs University have qualified.
The league will resume on Saturday with three fixtures as St Lawrence plays IUEA, Gulu takes on Nkumba as IUIU host MUBS.
