The president of the Uganda Boxing Federation, Moses Muhangi was nominated to stand as AFBC President on Tuesday.
Muhangi received this nomination from The International Boxing Association (IBA) and has been approved to participate in the Presidential Election.
This was Mr. Muhangi’s approval came from the Boxing Independent Integrity Unit (BIIU) – Nomination Unit, as he met all the requirements outlined in Articles 27.6, 27.7, and 27.8 of the IBA Constitution, making him eligible for the AFBC Presidential Election.
Earlier, some countries raised a vote of no confidence in Muhangi with intention of wanting him scrapped off the list but IBA approved the UBF President with a statement;
Muhangi was been cleared although the AFBC Ethics Committee which sanctioned him with a fine of Five Thousand (5,000) Swiss Francs, led by Angola, as said in a statement.
However Muhangi cleared the funds as sanctioned on Monday 2nd October, 2023.
The election is set to take place on Friday 13th October 2023, during the AFBC Extraordinary Congress in Durban, South Africa.
He will face competition from a number of boxing country presidents, Berhanu Eyassu Wossen, El Kabbouri Mohamed, Mendouga Bertrand Magloire Roland and Omo-Agege Siena Azania.
