Tornado CC face uncertain promotion despite win

Tornado Cricket Club concluded their fixtures in the second division with an impressive 166-run victory against Jinja Association of Cricket Clubs (JACC) at Jinja SS cricket oval.

Despite this victory, their passage to the first division isn’t assured, as the Aziz Daman Ismaili Community team poses a threat to snatch the promotion spot.

In a truncated 40-over match, JACC, having won the toss, elected to bowl first. Tornado Cricket Club set a competitive total of 239/9 in their 40 overs, while JACC faltered during the chase, managing only 73 all out in 29.4 overs.
Having completed all ten games in division two, Tornado secured seven wins, one tie, and suffered two losses, amassing a total of 15 points.

However, their promotion hopes remain contingent on the performance of the Aziz Damani Ismaili Community team, currently seated third with 13 points. If Ismaili triumphs in their remaining two games, they will reach 17 points and secure the coveted division one promotion, leaving Tornado on tenterhooks.

Meanwhile, Tornado Bees Cricket sits atop the second division table with 16 points garnered from nine games.

Their path to clinch the championship title and secure automatic qualification for the first division hinges on winning their remaining fixture.

The relegation from the top tier will see Africa Cricket Club and Avengers Cricket Club bidding farewell, marking their descent to the second division.

As the league reaches its climax, the uncertainty surrounding Tornado CC’s promotion and the dynamic shifts in standings add intensity to the league’s conclusion.
