The 2026 Cricket Uganda Women’s T20 National League continues on Saturday with a solitary Division One fixture, as Jinja SSS host Tornado Bees at Jinja Oval in a meeting that rekindles a competitive rivalry between two sides that both reached last season’s semifinals.
While they competed in separate groups under the previous format, both teams finished second in their respective pools, highlighting their consistency heading into the new two-division structure.
Jinja SS Cricket Club had a tough start to the season, suffering back-to-back defeats against defending champions Olila CC last weekend.
The side from Jinja struggled to build momentum across both games and will be determined to bounce back quickly, especially with home advantage.
Tornado Bees, on the other hand, are opening their campaign with this fixture after not featuring on day one. They arrive with fresher legs but will immediately face pressure to deliver in a highly competitive Division One environment.
The most recent encounters between the two teams came in 2024, when Jinja SSS produced a dominant double over Tornado Bees in both morning and afternoon fixtures.
In the morning game, Jinja SS scored 84/3 in 10 overs before restricting Tornado Bees to 55/6, securing a 29-run victory. Rita Musamali led the charge with an unbeaten 44, while Stephanie Nampiina contributed a brisk 22 to set up the total.
The afternoon fixture followed a similar pattern, with Tornado Bees bowled out for 94 before Jinja SSS comfortably chased it down to win by seven wickets, sealing a clean sweep on the day.
Jinja SSS will be aiming for a stronger batting display after a disappointing start to the season, while also banking on their bowling unit to replicate the discipline that has served them well in past meetings against Tornado Bees.
Tornado Bees, meanwhile, will look to reset the narrative, with a solid batting foundation expected to be key if they are to overturn their recent record in this fixture.
With both teams eager to establish early momentum in Division One, the Jinja Oval encounter promises an important early-season test of form, adaptability, and resilience under the new league structure.
