Emmanuel Mugume came off the bench to net the all important goal for Police FC as they overcame UPDF FC at Bombo Military Barracks Ground on Tuesday.
Mugume’s strike enable Police claim their fourth straight league victory.
In the first half, the home side, UPDF hit the upright twice as they looked for an opener. Musa Mudde and James Begisa got those attempts.
While also Police hit the crossbar midway the opening half as Brian Mululi saw his effort rattle the upright, with Simon Mbazira well beaten by the effort.
UPDF created the best and most goalscoring chances but failed to convert them into goals, so the game went into the break level at nil-nil.
At the start of the second half, Police FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru introduced on Mugume for Muwada Mawejje and less than 10 minutes in, the substitute broke the deadlock for the visitors, tapping in a well driven Mululi pass in the 54th minute.
After the goal, Police did more of defending than attacking in order to protect their lead
They provided answers to every UPDF attack including Tom Ikara saving a late Mudde free-kick to secure the points for his side.
With the win, Police move to 11th position on the log with 15 points while UPDF drop to 9th with 18 points garnered in 14 games.
Police will host Arua Hill next while UPDF will battle SC Villa.
