This Saturday, Wakiso Giants will visit KCCA FC in what will be their first game in the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

After playing a number of pre-season games with giants teams like Express and SC Villa. The Purple Sharks look set to face the Kasasiro boys.

Wakiso Giants who have spent four seasons in seasons in top flight football signed eight (8) new players in Marvin Nyanzi, Mikidad Ssenyonga, Apollo Kakogwe, Bashir Ssekajja, Mukisa Lincoln, Mubarak Nsubuga and let go of six.

John Luyinda Ayala the Wakiso Giants head came out to express how tough it will be playing against KCCA saying,

Playing against KCCA is always tough and it will be but we are mentally and physically ready to battle and optimistic of picking a good result.

After ending last season on high beating up KCCA FC, they will hope to start the new season by conquering the same opponent in the same venue.

This time round, they face a new KCCA FC side that has signed an on field team and one substitute (12 players) including their former star boy who rejoined them on loan.

Morley Byekwaso, after completing the previous season second, 18 points behind Champions Vipers, has a new task ahead of him with the KCCA fans holding alot of title hopes in him and the team at large depending on the new signings made.

With players like Moses Waiswa, Allan Okello, Muhammad Shaban and experienced Daniel Isiagi the team will be expected to put up more goals than it did in the previous season, something that seemed to a problem in their second round, last season.

Motivated Byekwaso says he wants his team to start on a high;

We want to start on a high and win our game against Wakiso Giants FC and not just win but playing well.

We have tried to work on our shortcomings of last season and improve the creativity and scoring of goals and I think based on the build up games, the boys have improved.”

Last result between the two sides.
