Defenders, Vipers SC began their Uganda Premier League title defense with a barren stalemate against Soltilo Bright Stars on Saturday evening at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
Although they were dominant , the Venoms struggled to break down a well-organised Bright Stars defense throughout the match and thus settled for a point.
Vipers best goal scoring chance of the game were fashioned by Lumala Abdu, but Yunus Sentamu, Bright Anukani and Abubakar Lawal failed to convert when they were fed through by the Electric forward.
Apart from trying to assist his teammates, Lumala nearly grabbed the winner late on in the game but he was superbly denied by Hassan Matovu.
In the end, the game ended with no scores on the board and the points were shared.
Vipers will return to action on Saturday, 8th October with a CAF Champions League tie against TP Mazembe in Kitende.
For Bright Stars, they will be back in action on Tuesday with a home game against Maroons FC.
