Midfielder Ivan Sserubiri and attacker Charles Bbaale were on target for SC Villa as they overcame rivals Express FC in a Kampala Derby league game played at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
The two goals came within two minutes in the second half as the Jogoos claimed all points in a water-logged pitch.
Sserubiri converted from a freekick while Bbaale capitalized on a slip by goalkeeper Denis Otim to double the advantage.
Until Villa scored, Express looked more likely to break the deadlock but Martin Olungat made a couple of good saves to deny Ivan Mayanja and Allan Kayiwa in the opening half.
Joseph Akandwanaho was also denied by Davis Ssekajja after beating off Elungat.
SC Villa has now collected two wins and a draw in their first three games and currently sits level on points with log leaders BUL FC.
For Express, who have now lost their first game of season drop to 5th on the log with four points in three games.
Villa play BUL FC next in Njeru while Express hosts Gaddafi next at Wakulukuku.
