StarTimes UPL: Rwothomio strikes twice as KCCA FC suffer 5th defeat

Chromwell Rwothomio struck twice as NEC FC beat KCCA FC 0-2 to subject the Kassasiro Boys to 5th defeat in as many, in a game played at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

Rwothomio, a new signing who joined from defending champions, Vipers, struck in the 4th and 27th minutes to earn the new Entrants NEC a fourth victory in the five games played so far in their debut season.

The result leaves NEC in the 3rd position in the Uganda Premier League with 12 points behind Kitara and BUL who are tied on 15 while KCCA FC continue to lay bottom of the league without any point.

Interim Coach Jackson Magera believes the team is needs to changes mentality,

“We want to at least change our mentality and play with responsibility in most moments of the game,” he said shortly after the game.

NEC suffered a 3-0 defeat to SC Villa at Wankulukuku on their 3rd outing but recovered to win against UPDF in the fourth at the same venue where they defeated their landlords.

The defeat leaves KCCA FC in a difficult situation having parted ways with Portuguese coach, Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil, who was appointed in June on a two-year deal, after just four games and replaced him with former assistant on interim basis.

The 13-time Uganda Premier League Champions and 10-time Uganda Cup winners are under pressure having not tested any title since the 208/19 season when they won the Uganda Premier League under Mike Mutebi.

Rumours have linked the club with the possible recruitment of former Police FC coach Abdallah Mubiru as the search for a solution to the unending troubles continue at the club which have sparked controversy and rage amongst the club’s administration and fans as well.

KCCA will face another winless side in Arua Hills next in the Uganda Premier League on 31st October at the Paridi Stadium in Adjuman while the NEC will host Gadafi on 1st November in Lugogo.
