Police FC and Wakiso Giants playout to a goalless draw

Uganda Police FC and Wakiso Giants FC played out to a goalless stalemate in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The cops got the first attempt of the game when Wakiso Giants gave away a freekick just outside the box, but Tonny Mawejje’s effort was easily forced out by Derrick Emukule.

Five minutes later, the cops had a wonderful moment to take the lead after Frank Tumwesigye Zaga brilliantly found Mubarak Nsubuga in the 6-yard box but the latter’s effort was too weak for impact.

In the 9th minute, the visitors almost found a chance to take the lead from a long ball which found Yasin Mugume upfront, with just a defender to beat, but Tom Ikara was right on time as Mugume sent the ball over the bar.

Like the first cops chance, Nsubuga was again found on Police’s right but the shirt 28 fáiled to connect well with the ball in the 20th minute.

In the 27th minute, the game witnessed its first yellow card when Mawejje was fouled out the box by the Wakiso giants’ goalie leaving the referee with no choice but to put him into the caution book.

And from the resulting free-kick, Emukule managed to parry a brilliant shot from Ruben Kimera over the crossbar for a corner kick.

The game went into the halftime break with the scores tied at 0-0.

The first goalscoring chance of the second half fell to Wakiso Giant’s in the 64th minute when substitute Karim Ndugwa connected to a fantastic pass inside the penalty area but was too slow to beat Tom Ikara who made a wonderful save to maintain the scores.

With three minutes to the death of the game, Hamis Muwonge got a chance to steal the win for the purple sharks but Ikara made a sublime save to ensure the game ended with points shared.

Elsewhere, Steven Mukwala netted a debut goal and missed a penalty as URA FC drew 1-all with Mbarara City FC at Kakyeeka. While BUL FC came from a goal down to secure a 2-all draw with Ten-man SC Villa at the Kyabazinga Stadium.
