Alex Isabirye Musongola, leading Express Football Club, orchestrated a triumphant 2-0 victory against his former team, Sports Club Vipers, in today’s Uganda Premier League clash at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Isabirye departed Vipers after securing the team’s inaugural domestic double but left amid internal disagreements. His current success with Express FC follows a stint with a Buganda regional team in the FUFA Drum before joining Express.

Express FC showcased brilliance from the onset, notably through former Busoga United players Isma Kawawulo and Isaac Wagoina.

Kawawulo’s 38th-minute goal, off Emmanuel Wasswa’s free-kick, set the tone. Wagonia sealed the game in the 76th minute with a skillful dribble past Vipers defender Murishidi Juuko.

The Venoms struggled to respond, showcasing only brief aggression in the second half. Despite lineup changes, including starting captain Milton Karisa from the bench, Vipers couldn’t rally back.

The loss which has pushed Vipers to the fourth position may be linked to recent technical changes at Vipers, following coach departures post the Bul defeat. Express FC, riding on their previous 5-2 win against NEC FC, exuded confidence throughout.

Express FC’s next encounter is against Arua Hill SC on 3rd January 2024, while Mulindwa’s squad faces NEC FC at St. Mary’s Stadium this on the same day.
