StarTimes Uganda Premier League log leaders SC Villa returned to winning ways on Saturday evening after edging past Vipers SC at Mutessa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Charles Bbaale scored the only all important goal for the Jogoos, who had before this game endured two consecutive losses.

The forward headed in a brilliant Travis Mutyaba chipped cross in the 33rd minute to ensure Villa narrowly beat their title rivals.

Villa produced a dominant performance throughout the game as they created the best goalscoring opportunities.

Just before he scored , Bbaale had two brilliant chances to break the deadlock but he was unlucky.

First in the 1st minute, he saw his ferocious shot from outside ooze a few meter wide with Fabien Mutombora well beaten while few minutes afterwards, he saw his effort saved by Mutombora.

Karim Ndugwa had Vipers’ only goalscoring opportunity in the second half when he saw his header rattle the cross bar after a nice driven in Martin Kizza cross.

Apart from that Ndugwa attempt, Villa’s goalkeeper Meddie Kibiringe easily dealt with whatever Vipers threw to him.

With the victory, Villa move to 46 points in 24 games. They are now seven points ahead of Vipers SC, who sit third on the log with 39 points in only 21 games.

Villa will visit Maroons next while Vipers will battle Gaddafi at home.
