Kyetume FC’s relegation worries have deepen after they suffered a 3-1 home loss to Mbarara City at the Nakisunga Ssaza Playgrounds on Wednesday evening.

A brace from Henry Kitegenyi and a Hillary Mukundane free-kick were enough to dim Kyetume’s survival hope with three games to go.

From the onset, Mbarara City were the better side and created a couple of incredible but were unlucky on most occasions until upto the 26th minute when Kitegenyi capitalized onto Pistis Balenga’s assist to wonderful slot it into the top right corner.

Two minutes afterwards, it was 2-0 after Hillary Mukundane long range free-kick found the back of the net with the Kyetume’s Martin Othieno left helpless in goal.

Although Kyetume tried to pull a goal back before the break, the game went into the break with the visitors into a 2-0 lead.

Four Minutes in the second half, Kitegenyi completed his brace with a sublime low strike after wonderful interplay between Ivan Eyam and Solomon Okwalinga to set him up, leaving  Jackson Mayanja’s men with too big a mountain to climb in order to get something from the goal.

But just before the death of the game, Richard Matovu pulled a goal back for the Slaughters but it was too little to late.

Kyetume now sits in the relegation zone with 23 points garnered in 27 games , three points below relegation Busoga United having played a game less.

For Mbarara City,  they move two places up on the log in seventh place with 38 points with three games to go.
