Gaddafi Modern head coach Wasswa Bbosa marked his return to the Mutesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku with a point over his former paymaster Express FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game that ended 1-all on Wednesday.
Allan Kayiwa put the Red Eagles ahead early on the opening half while Brian Kalumba put Bbosa’s side level in the closing half.
Kayiwa’s goal came in 8th minute when he tapped in a rebound from close range after Joseph Dhata’s well hit effort rattled off the crossbar and back into play for the former Vipers winger to finish off.
However, Kayiwa appeared to have been in an offside, but the goal stood despite protests from Gaddafi players and the technical team.
Express who were the best side of the opening half had a couple of chances to double their advantage but they failed to capitalize on them. Ivan Mayanja shot wide while Enock Ssebagala failed to beat Joel Mutakubwa in the Gaddafi goal after being set through.
The game went into the break with the Red Eagles narrowly leading, but the Solider Boys returned from the break a different side- imposing alot of pressures on the Red Eagles backline.
One of those pressures resulted into a foul outside the box and Johnson Odongo stepped up to shot at goalkeeper Denis Otim, who failed to handle the shot for Brian Kalumba to tap in from close range and level matters.
After that, both side wasted chances to score the winner and the game ended in a tie.
After the draw, Express FC move to 6th place on the log with five points while Gaddafi are 11th with only two points.
