Midfielder David Bagoole will be in spotlight as the defending champions, Vipers SC visit Njeru to take on wounded Busoga United in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Sunday afternoon at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru

Bagoole joined Vipers from Busoga United at the beginning of this season after spending two years at the Jinja-based side where he helped them finish 5th on the log in his second season and 4th in his last.

Coming into the game, Bagoole and his Vipers SC travel to Jinja seeking to build momentum on their first win of the season (against Kitara) and gain all three before the league can go into the CHAN break.

For Busoga United, they will continue to seek for their first win of the season. Busoga United are winless in their opening four games, losing 3 and drawing the other.

Vipers will be boasted by the return of four senor players (Halid Lwaliwa, Karim Watambala, Abraham Ndugwa and Milton Kalisa) who have missed the club’s opening two games having tested positive for COVID-19 before the second leg of the CAF champions League game against Al Hilal Omdurman.

While Busoga United will welcome back their captain George Kasonko, Dan Sewava, Shafiq Kakeeto and Isma Mugulusi who all missed the club’s last league encounter with Police FC.

Ahead of the match in Jinja, Vipers SC coach Fred Kajoba says it won’t an easy a fixture as everyone thinks, despite Busoga United’s awful performance in the previous games.

“They are a stubborn side and going by their recent results, you may look at them as underdogs but we know what they can be capable of and we don’t intend to leave anything to chance. We hope we can have an improved performance and get the 3 points because it’s very important for us,” Kajoba told the Vipers website.

Meanwhile, Busoga United’s head coach Abbey Kikomeko is also confident they can garner their first win tomorrow.

” We have tried our level best to raise the attitude of our players which has been lacking in our past game and I hope for an improved performance tomorrow and am sure we will garner three points tomorrow,” he said.

Sunday’s meeting between these two side will be their 6th meeting in the league, with Vipers SC holding an upper hand, having won 3 times whereas the home side has won once.

Last season, Vipers picked up their first away win against Busoga United in Jinja having not won the previous two games there.
