Allan Kayiwa scored the all important goal for Express FC as they overcame URA 1-0 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday.
Kayiwa’s goal came in 48th minute from a freekick to ensure the Red Eagles claimed all three at home.
Express were the better side of the opening half as they created chance after chance towards the URA’s end, but only to be denied by goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.
Alionzi brilliantly denied efforts from Ivan Mayanja, Kayiwa and Anwar Ntege in the opening quarter of the game.
The game went into the break with nothing on the score cards for both sides.
Immediately after restart, Express went ahead through Kayiwa’s freekick that curried past Alionzi in the Tax Collectors goal.
Moments later, it could have been two for Express FC but James Begisa made a crucial clearance to deny the hosts.
URA’s best scoring attempt happened in opening half as Benjamin Nyakojo rose up to see his effort parried away by Denis Otim, the Express goalie.
At the end of the game, Kayiwa stunning goal proved the winner and Express picked up a valuable victory.
The former Vipers SC midfielder has now scored two goals for the Red Eagles in his first two games. His first came last weekend against UPDF FC in Bombo in a game that ended 1-all.
