10-man Express FC held Onduparaka to a 1-all draw in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game at the Green Light Stadium, Arua on Tuesday.
The Red Eagles finished the game a man less after substitute Enock Ssebagala was sent off for a second bookable offense with less than seven minutes to the death of the game.
Muhammad Shaban put Onduparaka ahead early on in the opening half before Godfrey Lwesibawa equalised for Express almost at half-hour mark.
Onduparaka started off the block as they were the better side of the opening exchange and were rewarded with a goal in the 10th minute- Shaban netting on rebound after Express FC goalie Denis Otim failed to handle a ferocious Emmanuel Oketch’s shot from outside the box.
With his team struggling to impose themselves on the game, Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa was forced into an early change, bringing on Ssebagala for John Byamukama in the 19th minute.
Express then started to take charge of the game a nd levelled matters just before the half-hour mark through Lwesibawa who scored after a Eric Kambale’s lay off.
Express would have gone up before the break but Kambale and Walugembe all missed the target by a mile.
Former Express goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga then made two excellent saves to deny Kambale and Walugembe in the second half
While Onduparaka best attempt in the closing half came in the very last minute with Shaban rattling the crossbar, leaving Otim well beaten.
With the draw, Express move to 12 points and now sit 5th on the log. They will play Mbarara City next.
While Onduparaka move to 8 points and will host Wakiso Giants FC next week.
