StarTimes FBL: Arua Hill and Tooro United promoted, Water and Ndejje survive relegation by a whisker

Arua Hill and Tooro United secured automatic promotion to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after they finished top of the Elgon and Rwenzori groups of the StarTimes FUFA Big league respectively.

The regular season of the 2020/21 FUFA Big league concluded on Sunday with Eight fixtures across the different corners of the Pearl of Africa.

By the end of the day’s action, Arua Hill and Tooro United had qualified for the 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with victories, while Tiles and Terrazzo, Paidha Black Angels, Kigezi HomeBoys and Mbale Heroes were relegated.

Here is a wrap of the action on the closing day

Starting off in the Elgon group, Arua Hill secured promotion to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League in style after they defeated local rivals Paidha Black Angels 4-0 at the Barifa Playgrounds in Arua.

Gadaffi Gadinho, Ronald Kawawa(2) and Cesar Okhuti were on target for the Kongolo to finish the season unbeaten, having garnered eight wins and six draws in their 14 games.

With 30 points, Arua Hills finish top of the Elgon group and will play in Uganda’s top-flight league next season.

In Arua, Gadaffi finished their season second after they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Calvary at the Greenlight Stadium.

Gonahasa Patrick and Godwin Kawagga were on target for the Soldiers, while Swadick Onzima,  Junior and Emma Adriko netted for Calvary in a winning effort.

Gadaffi finishes the season in second place with 24 points and has secured their place in the playoffs while Calvary survives relegation and finish the season in the 6th spot with 19 points.

In Mbale, Mbale Heroes were relegated from the FUFA Big league after they drew goalless with Kataka FC at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.

Mbale Heroes finished the season second bottom with 17 points, hence relegated while the draw took Kataka to 19 points in 5th position.

In Kampala, Belmos Opio and Isaac Otto were on target as Maroons FC held on to defeat Blacks Power 2-1 at the Luzira Prison Playgrounds.

With the win, Maroons finishes the season in fourth place with 20 points, while Blacks Power secured their playoff place despite the loss as they finished in third place on the log.

Heading to the Rwenzori, Tooro United secured their promotion back to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after they defeated Kigezi HomeBoys 1-0 at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku courtesy of Marvin Oshaba’s penalty.

Tooro United finished top of the log with 31 points while Kigezi HomeBoys were relegated after garnering 14 points in 14 games.

In Lugogo, Diego Hamis Kizza, Hamza Mulamuzi and Alpha Ssali were on target as Proline defeated Water 3-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium to finish in second place in the Rwenzori group with 29 points.

Water FC survived relegated from the FUFA Big league by a whisker after finishing the season second bottom with 14 points, level on points and goal difference with Kigezi HomeBoys but has scored more goals.

In Luwero, Luwero United and Ndejje University played out to a goalless stalemate at the Kosovo Playgrounds in Kasana.

With the draw, Ndejje University survived relegation by a whisker after finished the league with 14 points, level on points with Water FC but have a better goal difference(-1)  than the Kampala side (-5).

In Mbarara, Nyamityobora FC defeated Terrazzo and Tiles 2-0 at the Kakyeka Stadium courtesy of Clinton Kamugisha and Fauzi Aliganyira strikes.

Nyamityobora finishes the season third on the log with 24 points and off to playoffs while Tiles and Terrazzo were relegated last game week.

With Arua Hill and Tooro United already in the Uganda Premier League, Nyamityobora, Proline, Gadaffi and Black Powers will battle out for the last spot.
