Stanbic Uganda Cup: BUL progress to the semis after shooting out KCCA

BUL defeated KCCA 6-5 in a penalty shootout to advance to the semi-finals of the 50th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw after full-time and extra time at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Alex Kitata opened the scoring for the home side within the first ten minutes of the game, catching Anthony Emojong off his line to find the back of the net.

Etienne Katenga equalized for KCCA just a few minutes later, scoring in the 14th minute.

Both teams had several chances to secure victory within 90 minutes, but were unable to capitalize.

With the score tied at 1-1 after full-time, the match proceeded to extra time.

No goals were scored during the additional 30 minutes, leading to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

In the shootout, Ibrahim Kazindula, Ibrahim Mugulusi, Joel Mutakubwa, Ronald Otti, Walter Ochora, and Pascal Ngobi scored for BUL, while Joram Kiirya missed his penalty.

For KCCA, Mustafa Mujuzi, Mustafa Kizza, Joel Sserunjogi, Filbert Obenchan, and Emmanuel Loki scored, while Herbert Achai and Peter Magambo missed theirs.

BUL now joins Pajule Lions, who defeated Pakwach Young Stars 1-0, and NEC, who beat Police 2-0, in the semi-finals.

The last semi-finalist will be determined in the final quarter-final fixture on Sunday, April 14, when holders Vipers travel to Masindi to face Kitara.
