Stanbic Uganda Cup: all three tied as Villa, Express and Wakiso advance to quarters

Uganda Cup - Express FC, URA FC

All the three Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 second leg games played on Tuesday evening ended in ties as Villa drew goalless with Onduparaka just like URA did the same against with Express while Wakiso Giants came from a goal down twice to secure an away 2-all draw with Moses Golola’s Tooro United.

Here is a wrap of all the games played on Tuesday evening and who progressed to the next stage.

Starting off in Bombo, nothing could separate the home side, SC Villa and Arua based side, Onduparaka FC, in a Uganda Cup game that was played at the Bombo Military barracks playgrounds. The game saw very limited chances created by both sides as SC Villa resorted to protecting their 1-0 first leg advantage than venturing for more.

The game’s best scoring chance fell to Villa’s Isaac Ogwang but the forward blazed his it over the cross-bar.

The result saw the Jogoos progress to the next round after a 1-0 aggregate scoreline over the Caterpillars.

In Ndejje, Express FC got the result they needed against URA FC  to progress to the quarterfinals after holding on to draw goalless with the Tax Collectors at the Arena of Visions.

The Red Eagles progress to the next round after they won the first leg 2-1 at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wakulukuku on Saturday.

In Fort Portal, Wakiso Giants came from a goal down twice to secure a 2-all draw with Edward Golola’s Tooro United.

Tooro broke the deadlock just after halftime through Amir Sengoma but Joseph Lubwama levelled matters for the Purple Sharks at the hour mark. On-form forward Marvin Oshaba restored parity for Tooro, but Vianney Ssekajugo netted the equalizer with the arguably the last kick of the game.

Wakiso Giants progress to the quarterfinals after a 3-7 aggregate win over the “Entare Zza Tooro”. The Purple Sharks had won the first leg 5-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakiso.

Action will continue on Wednesday, 5th May with two fixtures. KCCA FC will entertain Maroons at Lugogo, while BUL FC takes on Kigezi Home Boyz in the first leg of the round of 16 at the Kyabazinga Stadium Bugembe, Jinja.
