Under the leadership of captain Ebulu Ronald and assistant Twijukye Emmanuel, Soroti City Cricket Club aims to maintain their stellar performance from the previous season.
With the competition adopting a double-header format, each match becomes crucial, with the top two teams earning promotion to the premier division.
Soroti City bolsters its squad with three strategic additions: Ochen Peter returns from Jinja SS Cricket Club, Okiror Stephen joins from Buddo Cricket Club, and Derrick Bakunzi, former captain of Aziz Daman Development Cricket, brings his experience to the team.
The weekend kicks off with a showdown against KC Buddo Cricket Club, where Soroti City seeks to continue their winning streak against their opponents.
Saturday’s fixture sees Soroti City taking on KC Buddo Cricket Club at the latter’s home ground.
Buddo enters the match on the back of two defeats against Avengers Cricket Club, suffering losses by 7 and 8 wickets in their opening league fixtures last weekend. Meanwhile, Soroti City was out of action during that time.
However, Soroti City’s victory over Buddo in the previous season’s T20 championship, fueled by skipper Ebulu’s impressive half-century, instills confidence in their ability to secure another win.
Sunday’s match between Soroti City Cricket and Avengers Cricket Club at Lugogo Cricket Oval promises another thrilling encounter.
Avengers, relegated from the top flight last season, currently leads Group B, making them formidable opponents.
In a conversation with Soroti City Cricket Club’s captain, Ebulu Ronald, he expressed his excitement for the league’s return.
He emphasized his satisfaction with the recent additions to the squad, highlighting Ochen Peter’s return home and the arrival of batting all-rounder Derrick Bakunzi, and Okiror Stephen of whom bring added strength and experience to the team.
Ronald affirmed that the team is in excellent shape, with all players primed and ready to perform.
He articulated the team’s ambition, expressing hopes that by the end of the matchday, Soroti City Cricket Club will sit atop the standings. Their sole focus, he reiterated, is securing promotion to Division One.
