The Senegal Football Federation has confirmed it will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) controversially awarded the 2025 AFCON title to Morocco.

CAF’s Appeals Board overturned Senegal’s 1–0 victory in the final, ruling that the match was forfeited after Senegal’s players walked off during an incident in Rabat on January 19. The decision came after Morocco successfully challenged an earlier dismissal of their complaint.

Senegal has condemned the ruling as “unfair” and a violation of fair play principles, insisting the result on the pitch should stand. The federation says it will pursue all legal means to overturn the verdict and secure official recognition of its victory.

The case now moves to CAS, whose ruling could have major implications for the governance and credibility of African football.
