Vipers SC and Kitara FC produced emphatic performances to book their places in the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Wednesday.

At St Mary’s Stadium Kitende, Vipers SC cruised to a commanding 4-0 win over Iganga United. Hillary Mukundane set the tone early, heading home Yunus Sentamu’s corner in the eighth minute. Despite creating several chances, the Venoms went into the break with a slim lead.

The second half, however, belonged to Gusto Mulongo. The forward struck twice in quick succession, first finishing off Abdul Karim Watambala’s assist before doubling his tally minutes later to put the game beyond reach. Mukundane returned in stoppage time to complete his brace, calmly converting from Usama Arafat’s cross to seal an emphatic victory.

Elsewhere, Kitara FC delivered a ruthless display, thrashing Bunyaruguru United 6-0 at Royals Park Butema. Gadafi Wahab opened the scoring from the penalty spot, before Jimmy Kalema and Samuel Kato Nemeyimana made it 3-0 by halftime.

The hosts maintained their intensity after the break, with Benjamin Nyakoojo, George Ssenkaaba and Living Kabon adding three more goals to complete the rout.

The two sides now join KCCA FC, NEC FC and Happy Boyz Kagaba in the last eight, as the race for Uganda Cup glory gathers momentum.
