SCA U-17 girls team set to shine in Rwanda with Inaugural Overseas Tour

The air at Soroti Cricket Academy is charged with excitement as they proudly announce the invitation of their U17 girls’ team to engage in a series of matches against the U17 Rwanda team.

A delegation of 14 players and 3 officials has been selected to represent the academy and the nation in this upcoming international tournament set to unfold in Kigali next week.

 

This historic invitation marks a momentous occasion for the academy as it embarks on its inaugural overseas tour.

The team is not merely thrilled about the cricketing aspect but is eager to expose the players to the international stage, fostering cultural exchanges and networking opportunities.

The series encompasses both short-format games (T20Is) and a longer format game of 40 overs.

However the latter aims to instill mental strength and toughness in the players, exposing them to the standards and demands of professional cricket.

The team is set to play 4 T20Is and one 40-over game during the series (see attached full fixtures).

Schedule.

The journey began on the 3rd of January 2024, with the team checking into a residential camp at St. Mary Girls School in Madera, Soroti City.

Dedicated training sessions have been the focus, addressing all facets of the game to prepare for this exciting opportunity.

Soroti Cricket Academy expresses gratitude to the Uganda Cricket Association for their support and guidance, and to the Rwanda Cricket Association for the invitation and the platform provided for this thrilling series.

The matches are scheduled to take place between January 15th to 19th, 2024, in Kigali, Rwanda.

Led by Chairman Mr. Musana Felix, a delegation from Soroti Cricket Academy will depart from Kampala to Kigali on January 14th, 2024, with a training day scheduled for January 15th in Kigali.

Board member Mrs. Ngabirye Esther and media liaison Sajjabi Ivan Cyprian, a writer at Touchline Sports, will also be part of the traveling squad, adding an extra dimension to the delegation.
