SC Villa have completed the signing of midfielder John Asiimwe from rivals Express FC ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The versatile midfielder becomes Villa’s first official signing of the current transfer window after spending the last two seasons at Express.
Asiimwe first rose to prominence through Prosper Soccer Academy before representing Bukedea Comprehensive School in the USSSA Games.
He was also part of the Uganda U-17 national football team squad that featured at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, underlining his reputation as one of Uganda’s promising young midfielders.
Asiimwe’s arrival comes at an important time for the Jogoos following the departures of key midfielders Hassan Mubiru and Elvis Ngonde. His ability to operate both on the wings and in central midfield is expected to strengthen the squad as SC Villa rebuild for the new campaign.
The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to kick off in August, with SC Villa hoping Asiimwe’s addition will help bolster their challenge for domestic honours.
