Rugby: Uganda finishes 7th as 2020 HSBC World Challenger 7s Series is canceled


World Rugby has canceled the remaining rounds of the both 2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens and Challenger Series due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was made after a detailed and Constructive dialogue between World Rugby, hosts, and the participating Unions.

All decisions were done while considering the health and well being of the rugby community and public as a top priority.

The table Standings before the series was halted have been considered in determining the champions of the respective series tournaments.

In the World Rugby Seven’s Series, New Zealand has been handed both the men’s and women’s titles while Japan is the inaugural 2020 Challenger Seven’s Series champion and has subsequently been promoted to the 2021 HSBC World Rugby Seven’s Series.

Meanwhile, the Uganda Men’s Seven’s finished 7th in the Challenger Series and will have to wait until next year for any opportunity of qualifications to the top best Seven’s Series tournament.
