Day Two of the Great Lakes Men’s T20 at Lugogo Cricket Oval produced another thrilling double-header, highlighted by Kyoga Avengers’ disciplined victory over Victoria Strikers and a sensational record chase by Mburo Blasters, powered by a blistering century from captain Riazat Ali Shah.

In the morning fixture, Kyoga Avengers secured their first win of the tournament with a 13-run triumph over Victoria Strikers in a low-scoring encounter defined by disciplined bowling on both sides.

Batting first, Kyoga posted 129 all out in 18.5 overs, with Ronald Lutaaya providing a quick start through a 27 off 10 balls.

Ismail Munir anchored the innings with a steady 34 off 29 deliveries as wickets fell regularly around him.

Victoria Strikers’ bowlers impressed, with Pius Oloka claiming four wickets and Christopher Kidega taking three, while Kenneth Waiswa added two scalps to keep Kyoga under pressure.

In reply, Victoria Strikers suffered an early collapse, losing three wickets for just one run.

Perry Wazombe fought back with a patient 59 off 60 balls, while Amos Ahurra added 20, but the chase never gained momentum. Kyoga’s attack, led by Juma Miyaji and Gerald Olipa with two wickets each, restricted the Strikers to 116/9.

Ismail Munir was named Player of the Match for his crucial contribution with the bat.

The afternoon encounter produced a high-scoring spectacle as Mburo Blasters overhauled Bunyonyi Warriors’ imposing 221/5 in just 15.2 overs.

Bunyonyi’s innings was built on an explosive 87 off 38 balls from Obuya Robinson and a strong 49 from 30 balls by Paul Mulongo.

Late hitting from Fortunate Alijuna (24*) and Cosmas Kyewuta (14*) lifted them to a strong total.

Mburo’s chase began aggressively, with Fahad Mutagana scoring 21 off 9 balls before Charles Musemeza and captain Riazat Ali Shah took control.

Musemeza finished unbeaten on 85 off 45 deliveries, while Riazat produced a breathtaking unbeaten 100 off 38 balls, including 10 sixes, as the pair shared a 184-run unbroken partnership.
