The Uganda Cricket Cranes saw their final match of the Namibia tour abandoned due to rain, but head coach Steve Tikolo was encouraged by a marked improvement in discipline, particularly with the ball.

Uganda restricted the Namibia Eagles to 159 all out in a rain-shortened 35-over contest, with Joseph Baguma (4/42) and Bilal Hassun (2/17) leading a much-improved bowling effort.

“The improvement with the ball was clear,” Tikolo said. “From giving away 27 extras in the previous game to just one today shows discipline and growth.”

Uganda were 53/4 in 19 overs in reply before rain halted play, ending hopes of a comeback and confirming Namibia’s 1-0 series win.

Despite the result, Tikolo remained positive about the team’s approach: “The fight was there, even with the bat as guys showed willingness to hang in there and that’s what we want to build on.”
