Leading Paint company in Uganda, Kansai Plascon has today, Friday morning entered into a partnership with the FUFA to become the official paint partner of Uganda’s main national football cup competition, the Uganda Cup.
Plascon and FUFA have entered into a two-year partnership worth One hundred thirty-two million Uganda Shillings only (132,000,000/=)
This was confirmed during a press briefing at the Plascon company offices on 2nd Street, Industrial Area.
At the unveiling ceremony, FUFA Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu said: “We are happy to welcome Plascon Uganda on board as the Official Paint Partner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. As FUFA, this is an indication of progress in our domestic Competitions.”
The Managing director of Plascon Paints, Santosh Gumte said joining the Uganda Cup is an honour the company couldn’t resist.
” I am very honoured to announce the sponsorship for the Stanbic Uganda Cup” stated Gumte before adding;
“We have always wanted to associate ourselves with the Uganda Cup because of the fact that it accommodates all five divisions of football.”
FUFA 3rd Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi who was also one of FUFA’s representatives, at the function welcomed the company who have also recently been added to Vipers’ sponsors.
“We are excited to see that the Uganda Cup continues to grow, this is good news for the game,” stated Nakiwala.
She further confirmed an increase in this year’s prize money from Sh132 to 166m:
- Winner – Sh50m
- Runners Up – Sh20m
- Semis – 12m
- Quarter – Sh6m
- Round of 16 – Sh3m
- Round of 32 – Sh1.5m
At the same event, it was confirmed by the FUFA Competitions director, Hajjati Aisha Nalule that this year’s tournament will begin at the round of 32 stage, with only Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big league clubs.
The tournament will kick off on Monday, April 5th and will run until July 24th, 2021.
Plascon joins the title sponsor, Stanbic Bank as the only two sponsors of the second prestigious competition in Ugandan football.
Last year’s tournament was declared null and void before it could end due to the Covid19 pandemic that paralysed sport around the whole world.
