Plascon Uganda host Cricket National teams out on date

Lately the sport of Cricket has been mentioned out louder around the streets of Kampala and the main center of talk has been World Cup qualification on both the senior Men and Women national teams.

On Tuesday evening at Rozaho Bistro in Kololo, Kampala, the Cricket National teams sponsor Plascon organized a dinner to celebrate the 2023 achievements of the Cricket Cranes.

In 2023, the Cricket Cranes had a historical qualification for the 2024 T20 World Cup and were also able to defend the Africa Cup in South Africa.

The glamorous dinner was also attended by the Women’s team Victoria Pearls, who also qualified for the Global T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

On a night was filled with food, drinks! speeches were not left as the different teams players got to catch up with the officials and Legends like Cricket Legend Sam Walusimbi present.

In a speech put out by Plascon Brand Manager Daniel Kayongo, he promised to extend their contract with Cricket Cranes and also support the Victoria Pearls team;.

“This is one of those games that have immensely caught my heart I remember calling Denis while we were playing against Kenya all the time to update me on the score during the qualifiers because I was on pressure” he said

“I promise we shall extend this marriage with Cricket Cranes for the next five years” Plascon’s Daniel Kayongo noted

Concluding that “We are going to add Victoria Pearls to our budget. The details are going to be discussed and we will unveil the package,”.

For the National Council of Sports (NCS) who were presented by Assistant General Secretary  Mr. Katende David, they pledged to double their contribution to cricket;

“Uganda Cricket is the association that was able to conquer the region and the continent.” he noted

“That success has helped Cricket to join the prioritized sports disciplines and that means more financial support,”

“We want to ensure that the success is sustainable.” Katende concluded.

The Uganda Cricket Association through its chairman Micheal Nuwagaba and their sponsor, Plascon thanked everyone for attending the dinner and hoped that the teams would continue to do well at various events.

With huge praise from the 1975 cricket World Cup star representing the East Africa cricket team,Legend Sam Walusimbi climaxed the speeches at the event with huge praise for Frank Nsubuga who has played 26 years on the Cricket Cranes team and emotional talk about Simon Ssesazi, one of those he has seen grow.

With the teams in high spirits for the 2024 events and with their morale boosted, there is no doubt that they will continue to give their best on the field.
