December nominees of the Pilsner UPL awards were released on Wednesday 21st January 2023.
After the close of the first round, many would assume an individual from the top side BUL at the podium like it has been all through this season.
However a story flips to the other side as Wankulukuku based Express FC presents two players and their head coach.
On the player’s Award, both Emmanuel Wasswa and Isaac Wagoina of Express will be set to battle Kitara forward Paul Mucureezi.
Wasswa, on-loan player from KCCA netted a brace against NEC FC in Lugogo and also helped the side to combine effort to win at least twice and draw twice in December.
For Wagoina, he netted a brace against NEC, scored one against Vipers and BUL FC not forgetting the other during their 2-1 loss against URA bringing him to a total of five goals in December.
The Royal Mucureezi, scored the only goal that took Kitara past Express FC at Wankulukuku making it two wins at the same ground in the same season after humbling SC Villa 2-1 on Matchday one.
For the coaches, Alex Isabirye will face competition from Muhammed Ssefuma and Brian Ssenyondo.
Express’ Isabirye who was appointed after the game against BUL had his side play four times in December winning twice and losing the rest.
For Ssefuma, Maroons FC won thrice and drew twice out of the five games played while Ssenyondo’s Kitara lost only once securing three victories and a draw.
The November month awards were won by Bright Stars forward Nelson Ssenkatuka and SC Villa head coach Dusan Stojanovic.
