Olympics: Nanziri eliminated at the round of 32

Uganda’s first ever female boxer at the Olympics Catherine Nanziri has been eliminated from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Nanziri put up a spirited fight but lost to Japanese Namiki Tsukimi.in a round of 32 bout played on Sunday morning, in the women’s Flyweight category category at the Kokugikan Arena, Tokyo.

The Ugandan lady lost by split decision, losing 5-0 on the judges score cards in three rounds.

Nanziri lost all three rounds with the judges’ score-cards reading 30-27, 30-27, 30-26, 30-27 and 30-27.

Nanziri becomes the first Ugandan boxer to exit the games.

David Ssemujju Kavuma will be in action tomorrow against Nemouchi Younes from Morocco in the Round of 32 of the Men’s middleweight category.
