Day Six of the Great Lakes Men’s T20 action at Lugogo Cricket Oval brought a shift in momentum, as the Victoria Strikers returned to winning ways in dominant fashion before the Bunyonyi Warriors halted the unbeaten streak of the previously rampant Kyoga Avengers.

Musinguzi leads Strikers’ dominance over Mburo

Batting first, Victoria Strikers recovered from an early setback after losing Kenneth Waiswa without scoring, eventually posting a strong 180/6 in their 20 overs.

Simon Ssesazi anchored the innings with a fluent 64 off 39 deliveries, decorated with seven boundaries and three maximums. He found support from Perry Wazombe (23) and Pius Oloka, who added a quick 29 from 19 balls. The innings was lifted further at the death by Robert Ajuna’s explosive 43 off just 21 deliveries.

For the Mburo Blasters, Yashashvi Joshi was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/18.

In response, Mburo’s chase never gained stability after a top-order collapse left them reeling at 11/3. Despite resistance from Charles Musemeza (29), Brian Asaba (33), and a rapid 35 off 13 balls from Innocent Mwebaze, the target remained out of reach.

The Strikers’ bowling attack, led by a sensational spell from Musinguzi Mathew (5/12 in 4 overs), ripped through the batting lineup. Jonathan Kiiza supported well with two wickets as Mburo were dismissed for 112 in 15.2 overs.

Musinguzi’s match-winning performance earned him deserved Player of the Match honors.

Kassim Adam fires Warriors past unbeaten Kyoga

The afternoon encounter produced a major upset as the Bunyonyi Warriors secured their second win of the tournament while handing Kyoga Avengers their first defeat.

Batting first, Bunyonyi were rocked early after losing Robinson Obuya on the opening delivery, but recovered to reach 136 all out in 18.4 overs. Joseph Baguma led the counterattack with a brisk 36 off 21 balls, while Anas Baig (19) and contributions from Abu Seguya and Mulongo Paul (17 each) added useful runs.

The Kyoga bowling unit shared the spoils, with Ivan Baidhu and Dan Keith Amani claiming three wickets apiece, while Munir Ismail took two.

Chasing 137, Kyoga Avengers started positively through Conrad Lubwama (22) and Ronald Lutaaya (21), but frequent breakthroughs stalled their momentum. Skipper Juma Miyaji (20) and Gerald Olipa (18) offered resistance, yet partnerships failed to develop.

Kassim Adam delivered a decisive spell of 5/14 in four overs, well supported by Anas Baig’s three wickets, as Kyoga collapsed to 101 all out in 16.1 overs. Kassim was named Player of the Match for his brilliant five-wicket haul.
