Despite Africa Cricket Club (ACC) losing their opening matches in both the Women’s and Men’s T20 leagues, it was a dream come true for the Mukono Cricket Community to witness their players on the field.

Simon Kintu, Chairman of Mukono Cricket Community

“We are thrilled to realize the vision of providing our players with game time and exposure.

There is a new development saw our cricket community becoming a feeder side for Africa Cricket Club in both the men’s and women’s leagues.

The girls and boys from Mukono now have the chance to play alongside experienced players who have represented the country internationally, and everyone at Mukono is excited.”

Even though ACC did not win their opening matches, we were happy to see our players gain game awareness, play well, and minimize the number of extras.

Watching both the boys and girls play has convinced me that there is progress in our cricket community.

I can boldly say that our mission to champion cricket in Mukono will not stop.”

In the Women’s T20 doubleheader at Lugogo Cricket Oval last Saturday, the first match against Soroti City Cricket Club was washed out, but Soroti won the afternoon game by 51 runs.

Noteworthy, several players from Mukono Kings featured in the starting lineup, including ACC captain Nalumansi Resty, her vice Kyaterekera Noel Britney, Aisha Nakanwagi, Christine Nalutaaya, Elizabeth Nakibulee, Nambozo Adio Sarah, and Tracy Kevin Aya.

ACC also fell short in the Men’s UG20, losing to JACC by 146 runs and 73 runs in the first and second matches, respectively yesterday at Jinja SS Cricket Oval.

However, they hope to carry forward valuable lessons for upcoming games. Many players from Mukono had the opportunity to play, including ACC captain Achema Moses, Ejok Francis, Kyansa Trevor Mark, Muddu Jacob, Mugenyi Ivan, Mugisha Victor, and Mulindwa Christian.

The partnership between ACC and Mukono Cricket Community is still in its infancy but growing steadily.
