Mubiru – Ssenyondo flex verbally ahead of KCCA, Kitara clash on Friday

Kampala City Council Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) have not started the Uganda Premier League Campaign is the most perfect of ways but far better than last season.

With a 1-0 win against URA FC and 1-1 draw away to BUL FC they would feel this is not a bad time to face Hoima side Kitara FC.

Despite Kitara’s recent dominance in this fixture; having won both legs in the 2023/24 season (3-1 and 0-1)it’s anticipated that this would be a threatening match up to the Abdallah Mubiru coached side.

2023/24 First Leg action in Hoima- Hassan Mubiru on the ball.

2023/24 Second Leg action in Lugogo- Ashraf Mugume on the chase.

However it appears to be the opposite ahead of their game this Friday as the KCCA FC head coach labels Kitara FC as a mere on – form team;

“We are not looking at them the way you are, I don’t think Kitara are that big like you hype them” Mubiru said

“They are an on-form team that probably won’t give one sleepless nights not like like SC Villa or Vipers” he added

When the statement landed into Brian Ssenyondo, Kitara’s head coach’s ears, he replied by saying;

Brian Ssenyondo before the last encounter against KCCA in Lugogo.

“On the statement that we are over hyped, I would say if it was our first season from the Big League and we managed to finished in the top four above KCCA that isn’t over rating us, it means we worked for it.” he stated

“In the domestic cups we have right here, we count the UPL, Uganda Cup and probably FUFA Super 8 when you count the 3,4,5 successful clubs, Kitara would be in there. Is that being Overrated?” Ssenyondo asked

“Some people put themselves where they aren’t and it’s a big problem we have in Football but anyway it’s no problem” he added

“Our target this campaign even if the owners won’t say it directly is to win the title, last season it was finishing in the first five place but this time it’s different” he concluded

Kitara began the season on a good note with a 3-0 thrashing against Lugazi FC before falling short 1-2 at their renovated home in Buteme to NEC FC.

These sides have met four times in the Uganda Premier League, both winning two games each with no draw.

Before the 7pm game action on Friday at the Philip Omondi stadium in Lugogo, there will be a curtain raising 2024/25 Finance Trust Women Super League season opener between Kampala Queens and Wakiso Hill WFC in the afternoon at 3pm.
