Motorsport: Alwi clinches the IUEA Jinja Rally, Kyabazinga features

Hassan Alwi and Joseph Kamya clinched the International University of East Africa (IUEA) Jinja EMC Rally, a two-day event that started on Saturday and was completed on Sunday. The Kyabazinga of Busoga entertained fan as he featured in the super special stage at Hared grounds on day one in his Subaru Mitsubishi Evo 10.

Hassan Alwi beat off competition from Ponsiano Lwakataka and Arthur Blick as he managed to maintain his day one lead. Alwi won five of the six sections to register his first rally win in a period of about two years

Alwi and his co-driver last won a rally championship in 2018.

The NRC 2019 champion Yassin Nasser retired from the race on day one when his car hit the fans at the super special stage at Hared grounds. Title contender Ronald Ssebuguzi was among the crews which failed to finish day two, out of the 42 crews that started the race only 20 managed to complete at the final stage of day two.

Fred Busulwa tops the National Rally Championship standings with 130 points after finishing 5th at the IUEA Jinja rally. The next rally on NRC calendar will see us travel to Masaka for the Masaka Rally by the Southern Motor Club in early April.
