Masaza Cup: Kimera strike hands Gomba first leg semifinal advantage over Buddu

Gomba edged Buddu 2-1 in the first leg semifinal of the 2023 edition of the Masaza Cup at the Kabulasooke PTC Grounds on Sunday.

The home side’s goals on the day were netted by Allan Oyirwoth in the 43rd minute in the opening half and Wakiso Giants Kenneth Kimera 13 minutes to the end of the game.

Just before the Kimera’s winner Buddu had equalized five minutes into the second half through their Captain Twaha Ayman Toure who later left the football pitch injured.

In the other semifinal tie, Joseph Kayondo and Johnson Ssenyonga scored a goal each for Mawokota and Bulemeezi respectively to draw the tie 1-1 in at the Buwama.

Kayondo scored early into the game for home side Mawokota who had a bright start to the game but Ssenyoga levelled matters three minutes to halftime.

In the second half, Mawokota pushed Bulemeezi but all in vain ending the game in a one-all draw.

However we await to see which two sides will make the final after the second leg encounters at the Kasana Playground in Luweero and Masaka Recreation grounds on Independence day.
