Kyaggwe Saza has officially confirmed its technical team for the 2026 Masaza Cup, ushering in a new era with Ronald Ssali appointed as head coach to replace Simon Peter Mugerwa.

The announcement was made by Kyaggwe County Chief, Owek. Matovu Vincent Bintubizibu, alongside the management committee, as the county intensifies preparations for the forthcoming tournament.

Ssali takes over from Mugerwa, who guided Kyaggwe to the semifinal stage last season. Mugerwa will, however, not be eligible to continue in the role due to his current engagement with Lugazi FC. His absence follows a directive by FUFA which bars coaches employed in the Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League from participating in schools and Masaza Cup competitions.

Having previously been linked to the role, Ssali’s appointment comes as no surprise. The experienced tactician has handled Masaza Cup sides Bulemeezi and Buweekula and is widely respected for his ability to build competitive teams.

Beyond the Masaza stage, Ssali currently serves as head coach at Bukedea Comprehensive School, where he guided the side to their maiden East African boys’ football title last year. He has also previously worked with St. Mary’s Kitende, one of the country’s most successful schools in football.

To support him, Kyaggwe has assembled a balanced and experienced technical bench. Ssali will be assisted by Yassa Abdul, Ssekiziyivu Juma and Kyeswa William, while Asadu Bugembe takes charge of goalkeeping duties.

Denis Kizito, popularly known as Deman Denol, has been appointed fitness coach. Kizito brings valuable experience, currently serving in the same role at Lugazi FC and having been part of the Uganda U17 national team that reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar last year.

Muzube Mukiibi Fred completes the setup as the team’s welfare officer.

Kyaggwe heads into the 2026 campaign with renewed ambition, still chasing their first-ever Masaza Cup title. Their best performance came in 2024 when they reached the final but lost to Buddu at Namboole Stadium.

With a new technical team in place and preparations underway, hopes are high within the county that Ssali and his staff can guide Kyaggwe to long-awaited glory.
