Kyaggwe have reached the 2026 Masaza Cup final after holding Bugerere to a goalless draw in the semi-final second leg at Ntenjeru Saza Grounds on Sunday evening.

The result was enough for Kyaggwe to progress 1-0 on aggregate, having won the first leg 1-0 at home.

Kyaggwe entered the return leg knowing that a draw would be sufficient to secure their place in the final, and they defended their advantage to book a showdown with five-time champions Gomba.

The qualification marks only the second Masaza Cup final appearance in Kyaggwe’s history. Their previous final came in 2024, when they reached the title decider after eliminating Buweekula in the semi-finals, only to lose 1-0 to Buddu.

Kyaggwe will now face a familiar heavyweight in the form of Gomba Lions, who secured their place in the final after eliminating Butambala.

Gomba defeated Butambala 1-0 in the second leg on Saturday, October 3, advancing 3-0 on aggregate after winning the first leg 2-0.

The final will therefore pit Kyaggwe’s ambition of winning their first Masaza Cup title against Gomba’s experience and rich history in the competition.

Gomba are the record champions, having lifted the trophy five times in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and 2020. They will be seeking a sixth crown, while Kyaggwe will be determined to turn their second final appearance into a maiden championship.

The 2026 Masaza Cup final is scheduled for October 31 at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, where the two sides will battle for the title.
