The Cricket Cranes will defend their ILT20 Cup title in Kigali, Rwanda, with a heavily changed squad as head coach Steve Tikolo reshapes the team ahead of the September 1–14 tournament.

Riazat Ali Shah will captain Uganda, with Kenneth Waiswa retaining the vice-captaincy. However, six players from the squad that competed in the Challenge League B tournament in Tanzania have been dropped.

Simon Ssesazi, Henry Ssenyondo, Raghav Dhawan, Dinesh Nakrani, Sumeet Verma and Alpesh Ramjani miss out as Tikolo turns to new faces.

Robinson Obuya, Ronald Lutaaya, Anas Baig, Charles Mushemeza, Enock Kasaija, Matthew Musinguzi and Fahad Mutagana have been brought into the squad.

Joseph Baguma, Gerald Olipa, Juma Miyaji, Cosmas Kyewuta and Cyrus Kakuru retain their places from the Tanzania campaign.

Uganda won the ILT20 Cup last year and will be chasing a third straight title in Kigali. The Cricket Cranes will face hosts Rwanda, Kenya, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Nigeria.

The tournament will give Tikolo a chance to test a new-look squad while Uganda looks to maintain its dominance in the competition.
